Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th!

IWD2023

International Women’s Day (IWD) will be held on March 8.

IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.

To acknowledge and celebrate IWD, the Surety Association of Canada’s Women in Surety Committee have arranged meetups which will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in the following cities:

Halifax:
The Millstone Public House
250 Baker Drive
Dartmouth, NS
Start time: 4:30 p.m.

Toronto:
Beertown Public House
125 Wellington Street West
Toronto, ON
Start time: 5:30 p.m.

Any and all SAC members are invited to join us to network, connect and to celebrate the amazing and talented women who are involved and working in the surety industry. No registration is required, just drop in to say hello. Note: Munchies will be provided, cash bar.

This year’s IWD campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity.

Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA. And it's critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.

The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities are not enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
